| What languages does Code Toaster support? | You can create templates that produce output for any language. Code Toaster templates themselves are developed using the C# language (in combination with ASP-style tag syntax). | | Will Code Toaster ever support VB.Net, or other .Net languages? | Other code template generators (such as MyGeneration.net) are designed to allow you to use any old language, even PERL and such-like, but don't provide an enhanced developer experience (with Intellisense and other first-class language features). In addition, the Visual Basic language comes with some odd language semantics that make it more difficult (than C#) to parse. The short story is that, to achieve the best possible experience (that I had the time to create), I opted to restrict Code Toaster templates to the C# language. | | I noticed sometimes you spell Code Toaster with a space, and sometimes without. Why is that? | I'm goofy like that. | | Why another code generator? | I have a grand vision for code generation that revolves around a first-class code generation IDE that will make code generation become easy, effective, and that will (at least to some degree) remove the debate around whether code generation is helpful. In my view of things, Code Toaster is the future of code generation. | | Is CodeToaster Open Source? | No, sorry. It's free though, as long as you don't extend it for commercial use (email me if you'd like to do that: rmblack at gmail). |
